Huge thanks goes to Marcella Bell and the The Knockaville Cake Sale Committee who have had another very successful cake sale on behalf of CCRT. This annual event has been a staple on the CCRT fundraising calendar for nigh on a decade and to date a phenomenal €28,875 has been raised for the CCRT cancer research programme. Thank you to the bakers and supporters of this delicious fundraising event!
In her own words, Marcella will give you the background on how it all began: “The Cake Sale was an idea I had following the very successful “Tri-to-Beat-Cancer” Triathlons which were held in Mullingar a number of years ago. My sister was part of the Fundraising Committee and the funds raised went to CCRT. In an effort to keep that idea alive and on a much much smaller scale, I organised a Cake Sale on a green area at our local Cross Roads. My Committee are amazing and they are the reason this event continues to be so successful. It has been embraced and supported by all the friends and neighbours throughout the years. It has now become an annual event and it is very much a community effort. It is a chance to have a cuppa with the neighbours and a chat while also supporting a very worthy cause.
